A few days ago I had the opportunity to judge the regional finals of the CWA Floral Art competition.   Making the 30 min journey west from the Gold Coast to the little country township of Canungra, and arriving expecting to expand on my knowledge of flowers and creative perspective I departing with an arm load of home grown fare and a dose of humility.

Although the competition was hotly contested these bucolic, generous women also shared the warmth and support of a bygone era.   In every corner of the hall there were clusters of local women fostering and supporting their fellow countrywomen and bequeathing their expansive knowledge on baking, stitching, knitting, floral design and life in general, with the spirit of the pioneers before them.

Since 1922 Country Women’s Association (CWA) have been supporting local communities to find out more about how to get involved with your local CWA click here:  http://www.cwaa.org.au/
